September 2024 Maintenance Release for Android 12 Devices

On September 6th, 2024, Elo will release a new OS update for its Android 12 devices. This update includes feature enhancements and bug fixes that will improve the performance and usability of these devices. This update will be available for download on the EloView cloud portal as a dropdown OTA and will become the default OTA download on EloView and OEMConfig as of September 13th, 2024. Please reach out to your Elo support contact for any additional questions or to request access to a direct download of this update.

New features and enhancements:

  • Added a one-time complimentary software update to the Elo Out of Box Experience, allowing devices to upgrade to the latest available software within the same Android base version.
  • Implemented a secure application distribution mechanism for OS360 customers with offline devices to update the Elo Android devices.
  • Improved OS360 Status message for EloView to reflect the actual OS360 purchase status.
  • Resolved an issue where setting a certain Screen Density value caused misalignment of the Android Navigation Bar buttons.
  • Resolved an inconsistency in the Time Zone selection screen during initial setup of device.
  • Resolved an issue where, in some cases, the standard backpack wasn’t working with the 1502L HD monitor.
  • Resolved an issue where, in some cases, the AOSP virtual keyboard was not appearing on screen.
  • Resolved an issue where devices occasionally failed to display web content on bootup due to a system application launching before the network connection was established, leading to repeated retries and eventual failure.
  • Resolved an issue where in some cases manual registration failed in EloView 4.
  • Resolved an issue where in some cases installing TeamViewer 15.38.15 on 4.0 devices caused the foreground app to restart.
  • Added API support for the following:
    • Enable WebApps with WebView Hardware Access to read EloView custom values, allowing JavaScript to retrieve these name-value pairs.
    • Manage the Recent button on the navigation bar to restrict access to recently launched applications.
    • Manage multiple barcode scanners through JavaScript APIs.
    • Listen for docking and undocking events of the M60 via USB-C to the EM10 expansion module.
    • Control the cash drawer connected to the cash drawer port of the printer through JavaScript APIs.
    • Manage cash drawer operations through DT-100U USB adapter.
    • Manage built-in and USB audio devices to control the built-in speaker and designate a USB speaker as the default audio output.

As always, your devices will never prompt for an update or auto-update. Once the update is available, devices can be updated from the EloView Portal or at the device-level from the EloView Control Panel.
