On August 30th, 2024, Elo will release a new OS update for its Android 10 devices. This update includes feature enhancements and bug fixes that will improve the performance and usability of these devices. This update will be available for download on the EloView cloud portal as a dropdown OTA and will become the default OTA download on EloView and OEMConfig as of September 6th, 2024. Please reach out to your Elo support contact for any additional questions or to request access to a direct download of this update.

New features and enhancements:

  • Added a feature in Android Settings for OS 360 devices with an active subscription to allow for upgrades from Android 10 to Android 12.
  • Added support for a screensaver feature in multi-app mode allowing a background application to automatically launch and display content after a predefined period of inactivity.
  • Implemented a secure application distribution mechanism for OS 360 customers with offline devices to update the Elo Android devices.
  • Improved OS 360 Status message for EloView to reflect the actual OS 360 purchase status.
  • Improved screensaver architecture by integrating Android Jetpack Compose and new animations for enhanced content displays.
  • Resolved an issue where Elo M50 devices experienced connectivity problems with Wi-Fi networks using 802.11r.
  • Resolved an issue where devices occasionally failed to display web content on bootup due to a system application launching before the network connection was established, leading to repeated retries and eventual failure.
  • Resolved an issue where in some cases manual registration failed in EloView 4.
  • Resolved an issue where I-Series 4.0 devices displayed a screensaver with a 'content failed to download' message but resumed correctly after screen interaction.
  • Resolved an issue where in some cases installing TeamViewer 15.38.15 on 4.0 devices caused the foreground app to restart.
  • Added API support for the following:
    • Enable WebApps with WebView Hardware Access to read EloView custom values, allowing JavaScript to retrieve these name-value pairs.
    • Control the Android status bar. When disabled, the status bar remains visible but unresponsive to swipes. When enabled, it is fully interactive.
    • Read the Auto Idle mode setting from the device to adjust app behavior based on display timeout settings.
    • Read the Touch Sound setting to detect if touch feedback sounds are enabled.
    • Set and read Screen Locking Sounds, controlling the audio feedback for screen locking and unlocking.
    • Manage Charging Sounds and Vibration settings, adjusting system preferences for audio and haptic feedback when charging

As always, your devices will never prompt for an update or auto-update. Once the update is available, devices can be updated from the EloView Portal or at the device-level from the EloView Control Panel.
