Elo TouchSystems Unveils Its New Multi-Function 17"
Touchcomputer at NRF in New York, Jan 14 & 15
The National Retail Federation Conference will be the site for the unveiling of Elo TouchSystems new multi-function 17" all-in-one LCD touchcomputer, the 17A2.
By turning our recently announced 1729L 17" integrated multifunction touchmonitor into a fully-functioning, fanless, all-in-one touchcomputer, the 17A2 not only retains both the compact footprint of the 1729L and the comprehensive range of options it provides, but also adds a host of new features to help its customers gain an even firmer foothold in the point-of-service marketplace. Applications for the new 17A2 all-in-one touchcomputer include loyalty systems, kiosk information systems, home control, casino management, POS systems and Internet access points such as those for Web surfing and hotel reservations.
The 17A2 not only includes all of the field replaceable and field serviceable options found on the 1729L -- three-track magnetic stripe reader (MSR) for credit, ID and loyalty card transactions; customer-facing display to verify those transactions; biometric fingerprint recognition for increased security; 3 watt speaker bar with optional single line or omni-directional barcode scanner; and DVD drive support -- but we have also added cash drawer, power USB and VGA out ports; new Windows Embedded for Point-of-Sale (WEPOS) and new Windows Vista Business operating systems. Plus, the 17A2 all-in-one touchcomputer is compatible with all of Microsoft's other major operating systems such as Windows XP Professional, Windows XP Embedded and Windows Vista.

Announcing the Field Installable MSR Peripheral for the 1515L
Touchmonitor
Elo TouchSystems 1515L 15" LCD multifunction touchmonitor is an attractive solution for POS applications. The field installable magnetic stripe reader (MSR) can now be ordered and easily integrated into the 1515L's compact design. Available in both gray and beige versions, this field installable MSR is seamlessly incorporated into the monitor housing and is designed to flow with the elegant styling of the touchmonitor enclosure. The MSR comes from the factory defaulted to Keyboard Emulation mode but may be converted to work in Human Interface Device (HID) mode. Conversion instructions can be found on the CD that comes with the unit or in Elo TouchSystems on-line technical support. The desired mode (KBE or HID) is determined by the software that runs the user's application, usually a point-of-sale (POS) software package. The MSR interface to the computer is USB only.
The 1537L 15" Touchmonitor Now with APR
The 1537L 15" LCD rear-mount touchmonitors can now be ordered with Acoustic Pulse Recognition (APR) touch technology. APR combines the ultimate optical quality, durability, and stability of surface acoustic wave (SAW) and infrared technologies, with the dragging properties of capacitive, and the stylus and fingernail activation advantages of resistive technology. It is resistant to water and other contaminants on the screen, and provides palm rejection. The RoHS compliant touchmonitors showcase a unique injection-molded mini-bezel, with watertight seal, making them ideal for the rigors of public use in the retail kiosk and gaming and amusement markets. The 1537L 15" LCD rear-mount touchmonitor is also available with a choice of IntelliTouch surface wave, AccuTouch five-wire resistive, CarrollTouch infrared, and surface capacitive technology.
A New 17" LCD Added to the Elo Family of Integrated Multifunction Touchmonitors
Following on the success of the 1229L 12" and 1529L 15" LCD multifunction touchmonitors, the new Elo TouchSystems 1729L 17" offers even more field-installable options than previous members of its family. The new 1729L 17" can be configured by the customer in the field to include three options from a choice of: Magnetic Stripe Reader (MSR); vacuum fluorescent, rear-facing LED customer display; biometric fingerprint recognition device; and speaker bar with/without a built-in single or omni-directional barcode scanner. Available in beige or gray with a removable, adjustable height stand, the 1729L was developed to provide a versatile interface for applications in retail POS markets such as department stores, convenience stores, hospitality and fast food service. The 1729L provides a convenient, space-saving design that makes deploying touch solutions to market easier, more flexible and more reliable.
Surface Capacitive Technology Added to Rear-mount
Touchmonitors
The already versatile family of Elo TouchSystems 1739L and 1939L rear-mount touchmonitors is now available with Surface Capacitive Technology.
Surface capacitive technology offers fast, sensitive touch response with excellent dragging performance, making it an ideal technology in many gaming, amusement, and point-of-sale self-checkout applications. The transparent protective coating makes the screen sensor resistant to scratches and abrasions. Elo TouchSystems surface capacitive rear-mount monitors leverage our patented narrow 'Z-Border' electrode pattern to achieve outstanding linearity, and are compatible with industry standard protocols including Elo TouchSystems SmartSet protocol.
In addition to Surface Capacitive Technology, Elo TouchSystems rear-mount touchmonitors can also be ordered with a wide array of touch technologies including: AccuTouch, Acoustic Pulse Recognition (APR), CarrollTouch, IntelliTouch, and SecureTouch. Plus, the 1739L and 1939L models are RoHS compliant, and include an antiglare surface treatment.
